How to feed Vitalbix Breed & Grow
Use Vitalbix Breed & Grow as a complete supplement to roughage, or combine it with Vitalbix Fiber-Mix+, Vitalbix Pure Lucerne+, or Vitalbix NutriMash for extra protein and calories.
Support pregnant and lactating mares experiencing muscle or weight loss with approx. 0.5 – 1.0 kg of Vitalbix Pure Lucerne+ or Vitalbix NutriMash per day.
When feeding more than 1 kg of Breed & Grow per day, divide the total into at least two meals.
This feeding advice assumes a sufficient amount of high-quality roughage, which is essential for maintaining a healthy weight.

Daily Feeding Advice

Pregnant Mares
Month 1 – 7
Use Vitalbix Daily Complete, Vitalbix Balance+ Muesli, or Vitalbix Active+ during the first 7 months of pregnancy.
Month 8 & 9
Feed 200 – 300 grams per 100 kg of body weight.
For a 500 kg horse, this equals 1.0 – 1.5 kg per day.
Month 10 & 11
Feed 300 – 400 grams per 100 kg of body weight.
For a 500 kg horse, this equals 1.5 – 2.0 kg per day.
Lactating Mares (on pasture)
Month 1 – 3
Feed 400 – 500 grams per 100 kg of body weight.
For a 500 kg horse, this equals 2.0 – 2.5 kg per day.
Month 4 – 5
Feed 300 – 400 grams per 100 kg of body weight.
For a 500 kg horse, this equals 1.5 – 2.0 kg per day.

For example, a young horse weighing 300 kg should be fed 450 – 600 grams per day, and a 400 kg horse should be fed 600 – 800 grams per day.
Month 24 to 36: Feed 140 – 180 grams per 100 kg of body weight.
For example, a young horse weighing 400 kg should be fed 560 – 720 grams per day, and a 500 kg horse should be fed 700 – 900 grams per day.
