Understanding trauma and behavioral issues in horses (NL)

Trauma in horses is a complicated issue.

There’s no manual on how to work with horses that have experienced trauma because there are so many variables.

With this course you will have a deeper understanding of the psychology and ethology of horses. You will be able to list and rule out certain factors that may be the cause of their trauma and be able to come up with multiple possible solutions.

Unwanted behavior can be a source of many frustrations or even fear. Learn to understand where unwanted behavior comes from and how to address it by reconditioning the horses into the behavior you would like him to show.

For this course it is possible to participate as a spectator (€ 125) as well as practice (245€) with your own horse.

All participants receive a course book with a theoretical foundation.

Lunch is included.

YOGA FOR RIDERS

We expect our four-legged companions to be true athletes in their work.

Yet, sometimes we forget that as riders, we also bear the responsibility to work on our fitness and flexibility.

With our (aerial) yoga, specially designed for equestrians, we offer you the opportunity to care for a healthy body and mind in a fun way, surrounded by like-minded individuals.

Located in Maarkedal, our weekly group classes provide a serene and rural setting, nestled among horses with our feet grounded in the grass. It's the perfect opportunity to connect with the earth literally.

This class is without a hammock. Just you, your mat, the earth and our horses surrounding you.

Fall prevention training (NL)

Fall prevention training (NL)

This event is held by Maxine Wancket (behavioral specialist, certified 'safe fall' instructor and Centered Riding Instructor level II).

Why participate?

Research shows that the risk of a fall decreases by 30 to 61% and the fear of falling decreases by 37% after taking a fall prevention course!

You will learn the necessary skills to ride safely and enjoyably, such as:

  • how you can work on coordination, balance and posture

  • how the body behaves during a real-life fall prevention simulation

  • learn safe falling techniques and movements

  • why self-awareness and self-confidence are the key to feeling better and preventing falls

  • develop a safer feeling about your own movements and why your movements and self-confidence really matter for your horse

  • receive a special set of exercises to train muscle strength and endurance, so that you can continue the fall prevention training yourself later.

Anyone who wants to develop as a rider and horse person, take precautions, overcome fear or simply learn the correct safety techniques, is welcome at our location in Maarkedal.

A fall, especially from the height of a horse, can lead to risks such as fractures or internal bleeding. That's why it's important to know how to prevent falls and how to fall correctly to reduce the risk of injury, especially since there are techniques to do this! We will learn them in this practical 3-hour workshop.
